The two closest hospitals are Presence Resurrection Medical Center which is 1.2 miles away and Community First Medical Center which is 3.1 miles away. The Alden Network is based out of Chicago, where they have the majority of their locations in Illinois in the area surrounding Chicago and three in southern Wisconsin. Cost reports filed by the facilities showed that Alden saved millions of dollars each year by not having enough employees, while falling short of the statutory minimum of nursing hours, the suit stated. From 2018 through 2020, the suit alleged, Alden Facilities provided nursing care hours below even the minimum levels required by state law, and should have provided more than one million additional nursing assistant hours. The plaintiffs allege that Alden could save millions of dollar a year through understaffing.
Make daily rounds to ensure nursing personnel are performing required duties and to ensure that appropriate procedures are being followed. The Rockford, IL location was recently part of nursing home negligence lawsuit that ended going all the way to the states Supreme Court. The family of one of the Alden Park Strathmoor residents sued the facility for, “permanent and disabling injuries, resulting in loss of a normal life, disfigurement, pain, suffering and anguish” that lead to the resident’s death. The case was in dispute of the state law that does not allow for punitive damages after a residents death. The Supreme Court upheld the previous position on punitive damages.

Alden is a large, for-profit nursing facility network operating more than 50 facilities that house thousands of residents in Illinois, with more than $250 million in annual revenue. Not all Alden facilities appear to have the problems alleged — some have above average quality ratings from federal regulators. A lawsuit filed Tuesday by residents against the operators of Alden nursing homes claims that an intentional lack of staffing has led to numerous injuries and illness. The Alden Network of nursing homes has been growing since the first one was opened in 1971. There are now 44 different care sites in the Chicago area and throughout Illinois and southern Wisconsin.

Even still, the Illinois Department of Public Health receives nearly 19,000 complaint calls against nursing homes and elder care facilities annually.
Trying to speak to management to find a solution is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Most of the staff speaks in their native language constantly disregarding how Residents or other staff members feel. The place is so short staffed, some Residents go shifts in a row without being changed out of their soiled diapers.
